Coffee shops historically have been a gathering spot for poets, artists and malcontents seeking a forum to espouse their views; which just happens to be the purpose of this community. So, let's have at it.

Today, everyone's an American

The "results" are IN.

OBAMA's the 44th President of the United States of America... Which also means, the whole world zooms in on him for the next few years -- or so

Frappuccino shmochachino!

Grande Hot Mocha for Hazel!

I used to hear this DAILY when I was still working for my former company. I'm not exactly a starbucks shmuck, but it's open 24 hours on our building and I don't really have the patience to keep brewing coffee Besides, I love mocha and if I don't have patience brewing my own coffee, how can I possibly be making my own Mocha drink

Hang Nails and No Coffee

August 3rd 2008 19:08
Oh darn, here it is, half past Sunday and neigh on to Monday. Geez, where did the weekend go? It was here just a minute ago. I have a piping hot mug of green tea, spiced with ginseng and dash of genuine artificial non-carcinogenic sweetener ~ I’m nearly ready to trudge off to the Coffee Quip and start my day. Unnngh . . . sorry for that, I was stretching. Are you an early riser or a night owl that doesn’t go to bed until the sun comes up?

As long as I can get a mug of hot tea or coffee to wake up with, I’m good, add the cat and Tisha and things really brighten up. I like to cruise the web for strange news when I first wake up. What about you

Hey, welcome fellow caffeine sots. Sometimes a hot beverage and a snack can't help soothe the savage beast we know as the political pundit, so, here's some pointers gleaned from the sages that frequent the Coffee Quip served up fresh and warm.

The art of personality begins when you can appreciate the following

When Coffee Ain’t Your Cup of Tea (LINK)

July 30th 2008 23:55
Hey, g’morning and welcome. Here in Alaska, coffee reigns supreme as the hot drink of choice among city dwelling merchants and bush bear trappers. But this isn’t always the case, many of the tundra dwellers of the arctic interior and coastal regions prefer the following beverage, brace yourself for this; hot water, sic, straight up.

Many Eskimos coming to Juneau from their arctic villages for various cultural or sporting events, enjoy and savor a simple, plain beverage; hot water. They believe that cold water is hard on the body’s innards. Sipping hot water hydrates the body better, warms you up and won’t give you the caffeine jitters. They make an interesting point, if the body loses its core temperature or becomes dehydrated in the arctic, it can inhibit your ability to survive

Morning Coffee Thoughts

July 28th 2008 18:21
G’morning, and welcome. Finally, life moves onward and upward. Tisha’s burns are improving and healing, but remain ever so painful for her. Fish have been caught, prepared and await their final fate in a freezer, the cycle of life continues on. The last few weeks have put me at odds with many folks and fortunately, the worst seems to have passed by. It was getting old.

How about a quip in the form of a test

When Things Go Wrong

July 27th 2008 16:05
Hi, have you ever had a well intentioned act go horribly wrong and injure someone you love?

Up early a few days ago and working away on a project, smoking fish caught earlier in the week, inspiration laid me low. Missing my wife, Tisha, I decided to wake her up with some fresh hot coffee, ready for the sipping when she came fully back from dreamland. The coffee was in her favorite insulated cup, thus able to remain faithfully hot for her savoring pleasure, when prepared I placed the coffee on her night stand and fanned the scent of the coffee in her general direction. It smelt wonderful and I left the brew to return to my task

Hey, welcome to the Coffee Quip. One of the things that educators know that employers seem to ignore is the value of a break from the dreadful pressure and god awful tedium of most jobs. Most jobs defined: Those fields which aren’t even close to the cutting edge of career opportunities.

While in school, particularly at the elementary level, pent up bundles of energy in the form of children need frequent breaks to drain off that excess energy; to chat, quarrel, socialize, run, play, scream, shout, gossip, tell secrets, throw stuff, in short an opportunity to degauss themselves so that they can again focus on the classroom activities.

Broken Heart ~ Broken Press

July 17th 2008 03:52
Friends, my much vaunted French Coffee Press, pal and steadfast bastion of friendship and dependability, suffered a terminal fracture this AM at the hands of yours truly. And sadly, has since translated to that Coffee Quip in the sky.

Simple funeral services were held at home for this dear old friend as s/he was laid to rest at La Puerta De La Basura Gardens; tears flowed freely amongst the attendees, witnesses all to the final spilling of her life’s blood of amber liquid, tears and ambrosia mixed freely and were quickly lapped up by the denizens of debris long since past
