Coffee shops historically have been a gathering spot for poets, artists and malcontents seeking a forum to espouse their views; which just happens to be the purpose of this community. So, let's have at it.

Hey, welcome to the Coffee Quip. One of the things that educators know that employers seem to ignore is the value of a break from the dreadful pressure and god awful tedium of most jobs. Most jobs defined: Those fields which aren’t even close to the cutting edge of career opportunities.

While in school, particularly at the elementary level, pent up bundles of energy in the form of children need frequent breaks to drain off that excess energy; to chat, quarrel, socialize, run, play, scream, shout, gossip, tell secrets, throw stuff, in short an opportunity to degauss themselves so that they can again focus on the classroom activities.

Broken Heart ~ Broken Press

July 17th 2008 03:52
Friends, my much vaunted French Coffee Press, pal and steadfast bastion of friendship and dependability, suffered a terminal fracture this AM at the hands of yours truly. And sadly, has since translated to that Coffee Quip in the sky.

Simple funeral services were held at home for this dear old friend as s/he was laid to rest at La Puerta De La Basura Gardens; tears flowed freely amongst the attendees, witnesses all to the final spilling of her life’s blood of amber liquid, tears and ambrosia mixed freely and were quickly lapped up by the denizens of debris long since past

Coffee Rituals

July 13th 2008 19:35
Hey, welcome to the Coffee Quip, c'mon in and get comfortable. The only way to start your day is with cup in hand.

One of the many things I love about early mornings with Tisha is our coffee ritual and quiet time, most often spent starring out of our window and sipping at our very hot beverages

French Coffee Press

July 10th 2008 21:10
Hello everyone, c’mon in and order up some Bombe Alaska, and something exotic in a hot beverage. I’ve got some extra time on my hands today, but can’t figure out why. Odd that, I’ve probably forgotten something urgent that I need to do, but I guess it’ll have to wait until the memory muse returns. Well, what’ll you have?

Folks often ask me about the best way to prepare their favorite coffee and that has inspired me to take time to ponder the matter. My take; use a coffee press. Be it ever so humble, there just isn’t an adequate replacement for the humble coffee press. The only choice would be which size to get. I prefer a two cup model for home use, that way Tisha and I always have savory, fresh hot coffee. I hate stale coffee, but if it’s put into a café quickly enough, it’ll be ok for an hour or two. Brewed coffee that remains on the heat has a shelf life of about 15 to 20 minutes before the flavor takes a holiday. Then all it’s good for is painting murals on white walls

Starbucks hits a wall

July 6th 2008 08:38
Hey guys, good to see you.

I’ve been watching the news and following that upstart coffee shop wannabe, Starbucks. They can open more stores, hire more employees and serve more java, but they will never surpass the quirky raw sexiness of the Coffee Quip. Here’s my take on their hapless situation; help yourself to the day old donuts and some fresh coffee while I bloviate for a few minutes.

Coffee Quip Prediction

June 10th 2008 23:20

Wow, this has been quite the week already fellow caffeine addled friends. I am resting here at my computer station with a giant mug, which is filled with a delightful Japanese green tea and Ginseng with a tiny spoonful of sweetener. Yup, here I sit, savoring, sipping and gritching to myself

Coffee Lovers

Wow, when I muse about coffee, and its import to my mornings, it’s always with a mug filled to the brim with the hot, freshly brewed elixir of the God’s in hand, perfectly flavored, with my cream stirred in ever so gently that there isn’t a chance in the world of it bruising

Urban Alaska Coffee Legends

May 29th 2008 03:09
Hey, hello all. I'm gonna set here and sip my morning hot choco-latte and tell you a couple of Alaskan tales about coffee, y'know, urban legend stuff. Most of my prep work is done, the coffee cakes have a couple more minutes to bake, so, I've got time.

Coffee makes men sterile: this is a noble n worthy concern to all men. This particularly scary story originated up around TOK Junction, that’s in Alaska you know, and as the name implies, these folks may not always be in their right and proper state of mind, but aside from their odd habit of parading naked between the singular Baptist Church in town and the local bar/brothel/pizza parlor they are all as normal as hell. While the tale borderlines on the incredulous side, there was this incident when old single shot Charlie had a large mug of the boiling nectar unceremoniously poured onto his lap and nether region; it turns out he’d been visiting Ms Tok’s junction a time to many for his new lady working in the pizza parlor. Frontier justice and a hot Raven’s brew stewed him for life, he’s vowed to stick with herbals from now on. Sorta true.

Glorious Scrumptious Pie

May 21st 2008 22:51
Over the weekend I've been craving for something sweet. What with my err (excuse me..), monthly ladiies' thing coupled with episodes upon episodes of Pushing Daisies, I couldn't stop my craving for pies or anything sweet for that matter.

So we set off to try this place I've been wanting to try called Banapple. Their specialty? Bannofee Pie. Oh so yummy goodness
