Captcha Madness
March 30th 2010 02:40
Ever try to fill out a registration form and you get to the point where they ask you to mimic or answer some crazy question?
First off lets back things up.
Ah the wild west days of the internet. You could type in Brittney Spears in your address bar and get 1000 pop ups that would freeze your computer. If you made someone mad in a yahoo chat room they could shut you down buy spamming a gazillion messages to your messenger until your computer froze. Google first appeared as a Jeopardy question for the most used search engine yet I still did not buy the stock when they went public.
Oh and I still have 10,000 spams emails going back to 2002 in my other email account that I haven't got around to clearing yet.
Alot of technology and of course money has been made in preventing the old wild west internet days. Here we are talking about the internet form fill out called captcha.
The definition via wikipedia states:"A CAPTCHA or Captcha is a type of challenge-response test used in computing to ensure that the response is not generated by a computer. The process usually involves one computer (a server) asking a user to complete a simple test which the computer is able to generate and grade."
I for one see when such things are implemented that the villains of the wild west have won. Check out some of the worst.
