Coffee Beans Direct
March 20th 2007 16:42
Just visited online coffee supplier,Coffee Bean Direct. Easy to maneuver site, and some great prices on some of the pages.
I actually have an IRoast coffee roaster, so that I can roast small batches of green coffee beans, but I'll spare those less fanatical about their coffee, for the moment.
Instead of looking at the incredibly more reasonably priced green coffee bean prices (the company also owns Green Coffees) we'll look at a few of their roasted bean packages.
Coffee Bean Direct has a wide, delicious range of coffees from around the world, and as you might expect, Hawaiian Kona Fancy, is one of the most expensive.
Whole Bean roasted is $131.00 (5 lbs.). Green coffee beans only save you a couple of dollars on this blend, because of the demand and limited quantities. Green coffee is only reduced to $127.25 for five pounds.
Of course, I had to explore the Poor Man's Blend. Coffee Direct sells it in lots of 5 to 50 lb. bags (the 25 and 50 lb. orders are shipped in burlap bags.) Poor Man's Blend is 5 pounds roasted, whole bean, at $15.35. Roasted ground, 5 pounds is $17. 35.
There is an international sampler, roasted (51/2 lbs two coffee cups), at $39.99. However, if you buy the coffee beans green, it comes down to $18.00.
An example of the company's approach and language of coffee is in the description for Estate Java:
"Java is a heavy bodied, clean cup of coffee from Indonesia.
Low in acid and slightly sweet, without the earthy undertones
found in most heavy bodied beans. This Estate Java is Java Arabica Blawan.
Pricing: 25lb burlap is $6.30 per lb and a 5lb bag is $6.55 per lb"
Fortunately for shoppers, these folks are as serious about their coffees as wine connoisseurs are on their vintages.... enjoy...
