Coffee shops historically have been a gathering spot for poets, artists and malcontents seeking a forum to espouse their views; which just happens to be the purpose of this community. So, let's have at it.

It's Tea Time

March 23rd 2008 16:02

G’day, and welcome. C’mon in for something hot to drink and a chat.

While chauffeuring the missus to her job at 4:30am, we noticed that the sleet and hail pummeling the windshield was coming at us horizontally, tree tops were bent double and the ravens were flying sideways. That and our vehicle made unannounced lane changes on its on accord from time to time, quickly led us to the conclusion that we should have brought our wind tan lotion and snorkels.

I’m fussing with a cold, and so, it’s going to be a spiced tea sort of lay-about day for me.

Here’s a recipe:

Spiced Tea (hot)

Ingredients:
• 4-5 bags of your favorite tea from your private collection
• 4 -6cups boiling water

The spice syrup:
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 cup of water
• 2 stick cinnamon
• 8 whole cloves
• 3 cardamom pods (optional-because ya gotta find ‘em first)
• 2 tbsp of tea leaves (this is in addition to the tea bags)

The flair:
• juice of 1 large lemon and 2 oranges
• splash of soda water (club soda) to taste
• orange and lemon slices to decorate

The mechanics:
1. Boil the sugar, water and spices for 5 mins to make a syrup, then remove from heat. Put the tea bags in a large pot and pour the boiling water over, leave for 5 mins.
2. Strain into large bowl; add the strained syrup and leave to cool. Stir in the strained lemon and orange juice, then (if you must drink the stuff cold) add ice cubes and dilute with iced water or club soda to taste. Decorate with slices of orange or lemon.

Sip and savor with healthy, cold free friends. No sense in spoiling a good thing.

Strange but True...

The reason firehouses have circular stairways is from the days when the engines were pulled by horses. The horses were stabled on the ground floor and figured out how to walk up straight staircases.

It is impossible to sneeze with your eyes open. Try it!

Levi Strauss made the first pair of blue jeans in 1850. They were intended as work trousers for American miners looking for gold.

Wow, the missus shared a cold she captured while working, it's an unpleasant little thing; I am in dire need of a nap.

Thank you all for dropping in.

After the slightest whiff of your concoction cleared my head instantly and after struggling through the stormy weather I'm sure as hell glad that I thought it was a BYO and helped myself happily to my simple black tea, have u run out of milk and sugar too?

Was that an advertisement for staff? Pay better than blogging, is it?

Oh, you don't pay at all, about the same then but yours is much harder work but perhaps you share the hammock from time to time. Get out, you fool, don't just move over.

The coffee shop is getting short of quips dear, you really have let the place run down.

Hahaha, the milk or cream is on the shelf where you left it the last time you visited. The imitation organic sugar is on the counter. Sorry about the quips, the traps were empty when I checked them this morning.

You want the hammock??? Fine, you can have the hammock (...the hair on my neck is standing of edge with alarm) for a few hours, but I'm not giving up my fluffy. A guy's gotta draw the line somewhere katyzzz.

The milk or cream must be cheese by now, more BYO it seems.

Of course it's cheese, I couldn't get the stuff to turn into barium katyzzz.

Keep trying for gold, the alchemist's dream, they can do it now, but it costs more than it produces. That barium tastes a bit chalky where's the scanning machine? Comes extra, I suppose.

hahaha, katyzzz, if the value of gold keeps climbing, it may very well become viable to create gold out of expired milk products or beef like meat stuff. Raven

I wonder if that tea recipe would work on coffee bags? (I don't drink tea)

Why not? It's just a flavored coffee and may even prove very tasty sandeye. BTW, I threw some meat scraps to blackbirds in the yard and a bird riot broke out when a couple of ravens tried to muscle their way in. The ruckus was pretty wild for a time. Raven
