Coffee shops historically have been a gathering spot for poets, artists and malcontents seeking a forum to espouse their views; which just happens to be the purpose of this community. So, let's have at it.

French Coffee Press

July 10th 2008 21:10
Hello everyone, c’mon in and order up some Bombe Alaska, and something exotic in a hot beverage. I’ve got some extra time on my hands today, but can’t figure out why. Odd that, I’ve probably forgotten something urgent that I need to do, but I guess it’ll have to wait until the memory muse returns. Well, what’ll you have?

Folks often ask me about the best way to prepare their favorite coffee and that has inspired me to take time to ponder the matter. My take; use a coffee press. Be it ever so humble, there just isn’t an adequate replacement for the humble coffee press. The only choice would be which size to get. I prefer a two cup model for home use, that way Tisha and I always have savory, fresh hot coffee. I hate stale coffee, but if it’s put into a café quickly enough, it’ll be ok for an hour or two. Brewed coffee that remains on the heat has a shelf life of about 15 to 20 minutes before the flavor takes a holiday. Then all it’s good for is painting murals on white walls.

Helpful hints and meditations to get you through the day:

When reheating your coffee in the microwave, take the hamster and wet socks out first
• When you need quiet time to drink your coffee, send the kids to visit the ex after feeding them a pie and cake breakfast
• Remember that your ex-husbands new wife is a 5' 5", 300 pound former pro wrestler and is named Bob
• Never drink hot coffee on a trampoline
.

Well, savor your day, you might as well, it isn't going to get any better than it already is. Avoid stale donuts and yard sales offering stuff you just threw away; again.

Forget the coffee lesson, I don't drink it, but if you've something to say about hot chocolate, you'll find me a receptive audience, but I'm feezing my .....off, as some would so crudely say it, and if you've not saved me a Bombe Alaska there'll be trouble.

So you know what I want, no, food you fool, what is the world comin' to. Bad Mood? I ain't in no bad mood, it's you, buddy, it's you.

Nice posters you have around the place, not quite ready to buy, wee problem with the credit card u know, but I did look, and I am so GREEN, that's MEAN, yep and I ain't talkin' no averages here. See how you've ruined my speech.

Oh, that tastes and smells just so good, no, no, no, I want REAL milk, God man, one world youth day and you go to pieces and I tripped over multiple barricades getting here and not one complaint from me, you'll see.

What do you mean, BAD MOOD, imbecile, I'm never in a bad mood, what's wrong with you?

Would that fine state require a Bombe Alaska and a dbl spicy hot chocolate to adjust or shall I retire to the streets and boot a few world youth day bottoms with yesterdays old newspaper filled boots?

I knew it, just not the youth day kind, are you Raven, mind you most youth I do not hold in high regard, but I guess we hear more about the selfish ones than the others, but I'm all for World Youth Day, funny but I don't seem to have seen any posts.

As for myself I'm just so kind and perfect, would I be so rude as to call anyone an imbecile?

But that recommendation of yours does sound good, and do you have some big bears around that I could play with?

I haven't really tried the coffee press, but I've been curious... Maybe I'll try it at home so I can have fresh coffee without using too much electricity with out espresso machine or coffee brewer

oh yeah, I'm back... sorta.

Hello!

Hello Hazel, I hope you continue to post on the Coffee Quip, but that aside; it's wonderful to have you visit. I know that I am not the only person that misses you.

With a coffee press, all you need is hot water, your favorite blend of coffee, 5 minutes worth of spare time and have your coffee mug n coffee cake ready for the luxury break you'll be having.

I will be posting.. soon

I will have a lot of time in my hands in about 3 weeks. I just quit my job so I'll be spending my time writing (and hoping on earning something from it)

ahhh just came back from my own coffee break. a supposed 15minute break that turned to 4 hours!
