Coffee shops historically have been a gathering spot for poets, artists and malcontents seeking a forum to espouse their views; which just happens to be the purpose of this community. So, let's have at it.

Hang Nails and No Coffee

August 3rd 2008 19:08
Oh darn, here it is, half past Sunday and neigh on to Monday. Geez, where did the weekend go? It was here just a minute ago. I have a piping hot mug of green tea, spiced with ginseng and dash of genuine artificial non-carcinogenic sweetener ~ I’m nearly ready to trudge off to the Coffee Quip and start my day. Unnngh . . . sorry for that, I was stretching. Are you an early riser or a night owl that doesn’t go to bed until the sun comes up?

As long as I can get a mug of hot tea or coffee to wake up with, I’m good, add the cat and Tisha and things really brighten up. I like to cruise the web for strange news when I first wake up. What about you

Morning Coffee Thoughts

July 28th 2008 18:21
G’morning, and welcome. Finally, life moves onward and upward. Tisha’s burns are improving and healing, but remain ever so painful for her. Fish have been caught, prepared and await their final fate in a freezer, the cycle of life continues on. The last few weeks have put me at odds with many folks and fortunately, the worst seems to have passed by. It was getting old.

How about a quip in the form of a test

Broken Heart ~ Broken Press

July 17th 2008 03:52
Friends, my much vaunted French Coffee Press, pal and steadfast bastion of friendship and dependability, suffered a terminal fracture this AM at the hands of yours truly. And sadly, has since translated to that Coffee Quip in the sky.

Simple funeral services were held at home for this dear old friend as s/he was laid to rest at La Puerta De La Basura Gardens; tears flowed freely amongst the attendees, witnesses all to the final spilling of her life’s blood of amber liquid, tears and ambrosia mixed freely and were quickly lapped up by the denizens of debris long since past

French Coffee Press

July 10th 2008 21:10
Hello everyone, c’mon in and order up some Bombe Alaska, and something exotic in a hot beverage. I’ve got some extra time on my hands today, but can’t figure out why. Odd that, I’ve probably forgotten something urgent that I need to do, but I guess it’ll have to wait until the memory muse returns. Well, what’ll you have?

Folks often ask me about the best way to prepare their favorite coffee and that has inspired me to take time to ponder the matter. My take; use a coffee press. Be it ever so humble, there just isn’t an adequate replacement for the humble coffee press. The only choice would be which size to get. I prefer a two cup model for home use, that way Tisha and I always have savory, fresh hot coffee. I hate stale coffee, but if it’s put into a café quickly enough, it’ll be ok for an hour or two. Brewed coffee that remains on the heat has a shelf life of about 15 to 20 minutes before the flavor takes a holiday. Then all it’s good for is painting murals on white walls

Starbucks hits a wall

July 6th 2008 08:38
Hey guys, good to see you.

I’ve been watching the news and following that upstart coffee shop wannabe, Starbucks. They can open more stores, hire more employees and serve more java, but they will never surpass the quirky raw sexiness of the Coffee Quip. Here’s my take on their hapless situation; help yourself to the day old donuts and some fresh coffee while I bloviate for a few minutes.

Coffee Quip Sunday

April 12th 2008 16:36
Well, G’morning, evidently I am not going to convert any of you into Kopi Kuwak drinkers. Hahaha, I can’t blame you, no one really cares for previously processed coffee beans anyway.

C’mon in and settle down, and I’ll pour you a normal triple shot, cinnamon latte, no foam, with a real cream floater and spritzels. Would you like a Danish with that? The apple and cherry cream one’s are to die for, really; a ten on the taste scale.

Coffee Quip from Alaska

April 6th 2008 17:51

Uh oh, the bears have insomnia and are waking up early this year. In spite of three feet of new snow in the area, bears at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, located in Portage Glacier, are up and about, probably looking for coffee and a snack. Usually, captive bears prefer to sleep in a little longer, but a warming spell woke them up. Maybe it was the wood pecker banging on the drain pipes again, who knows? That bird is still really, really mad about these rowdy clowns knocking his nesting tree over. His missus hasn't been right since the "incident," so, yea, you know it's bad.

Just moved in

Just like when you just moved into a new neighborhood/community, you "nest" and try to find the places you'd feel most at home with. Most of the time it's a coffee shop.

I've finished unpacking and have settled in pretty well (it's already been 5 months i think [ Click here to read more ]

Coffee Quip - Wednesday

March 26th 2008 22:54
I love this print.
Greeting’s, the coffee, tea, sweet breads, cookies and tall tales are exotic and for a small stipend, I’ll hook you up. There’s been a serious outbreak of hate lately, and it’s manifested in blogs and on the news, so lemme see if I can find some happy stuff to share.

A man sent a text message to the wrong number and wound up engaged! First the guy Anthony Hubbocks sent a flirty message, which a Michelle Morris mistakenly thought was from a male friend of hers, and in reply fired off a brash response; the rest will be hystery, reports the Daily Mirror. Killer Whale, Housework and Sex

March 9th 2008 16:09
Rumors of white whales in the waters near the Aleutian Islands off Alaska’s coast have been persistent. Researchers have finally filmed and confirmed that the wondrous creature exists, is alive, healthy, white, but is not an albino. It lives with a family pod of about 12 animals; this handsome fella is an adult male more than 25 feet long and weighs more than 5 tons. And nearly all of the lady Orca’s calls him Charlie.
Mythical White Killer Whale source.

Saturday’s Coffee Quip

February 17th 2008 02:15
On the lighter side of life there are the everyday struggles that remind us that we are alive. Recently, those mishaps have ganged up and pummeled me into a bowl of Jell-O. Proving that I can’t get anymore alive in addition to being quite helpless and incapable of standing at the control’s of my life or the infamous Coffee Quip Espresso machine for more than a few minutes without cracking up. It’s hell.

Hey, if you have a few minutes to spare, get comfortable and have a Chai or a latte’ on the house while I share my story

Blind Golfer Hits a Hole-in-One

Can you believe this? A 92-year-old golfer hit a hole-in-one even though he is legally blind. Leo Fiyalko has been playing the sport for 60 years but now suffers from a degenerative condition leaving him with only peripheral vision in his right eye. The feat was his first ever hole-in-one. Howerver, as you can see, larger than average golf ball simulators were used to facilitate his visual problems. He still marvels that he was able to hit such small orbs. No eWoks were permanently harmed during the event.

Saturday's Coffee Break

January 27th 2008 05:09
Here it is, another Saturday and it’s snowing so much, that I can’t see our faithful gas guzzling SUV (Moosik) from the garage door windows. Occasionally, I hear belches as it (Moosik) quaffs another gallon of gas to let me know that it’s around, lurking somewhere under the shapeless snow pile in my drive way. Moosik stands ready, willing and four wheel drive able, to whisk Tisha and I off to visit exotic coffee shops in town, all two of them. But we’re convalescing from a grungy case of the wimpies, aka the blahs and a cold. Sigh.

Huh? Oh, sure, quips or whips, I'm beat either way
