Coffee shops historically have been a gathering spot for poets, artists and malcontents seeking a forum to espouse their views; which just happens to be the purpose of this community. So, let's have at it.

"Useful" Coffee Tables

September 19th 2006 01:16
Getting tired of that boring old coffee table taking up space in the middle of your room? Wish it could do something else besides hold mugs and prop up your feet? Here are some neat dual purpose coffee table ideas!

Coffeetableshelf
Coffee Table Bookshelf: This coffee table, originally designed in Turkey, has vertical slots hanging off it like a file cabinet. The top panels slide across the surface for easy access to all your coffee table books! (via BoingBoing)

Coffeetablelamp
Coffee Table Lamp: Looking for a way to brighten up the room? How about this oriental inspired coffee table lamp? The two bases each house its own light fixture that casts a soft ambient glow around the room. With an elegant glass top, this coffee table is the perfect companion to a good late night read.

coffeetableaquarium
Coffee Table Aquarium: A classic conversation piece, the coffee table aquarium has delighted for generations for its functionality and unique look. Slots on the sides of the table allow for easy access to feed your fish and the see through glass top accentuates the underwater experience.

coffeetableclock
Coffee Table Clock: I don't know about you guys, but I always wanted to learn how to read the time upside down! Positioning aside, the coffee table clock gives you easy access to a time piece while saving you much needed space on the wall. Another unique piece from ComfortHouse and a great way to kill some time.

coffeetablexylophone
Coffee Table Instrument: That annoying cousin who thinks every surface is a percussion instrument? Well now it is- or at least your coffee table is! This unusual piece is offered by Musical Furnishings, who specialize in dually functional pieces. Add a little melody to your life - afternoon tea can now easily transform into a delightful one-or two-man show!

I think the fish tank one is great! It might be a bit smelly to put food on though...?
